We have experienced some similar.
Our dev server (ws 2012) was running a frontbase installation (last
version) for months until one day it suddenly stopped showing the same
This happened just after the last windows update (some weeks ago)
The problem was that the FBExec service did not started automatically.
Why? I don’t know
Even more, the FBExec service is still marked as “auto” but it doesn’t
start automatically after the update.
For us it is not a big issue, we do the service start manually because
the server is for development puposes, but tooked us a while to
discover this issue.
FBExec is the broker process needed to be able to connect with the
database engine, so, if it is not running, you can’t connect to any
database even if the FrontBase service is running.
If your windows server has been updated near the date you did notice the
FBExec was not runnig, may be you have the same issue
Check if the service is running after a restart.
If not (and it is marked to start “auto”) you may have the same issue.
Start it manually and check if you can connect again

> I have an Omnis Studio application that has been used on an intranet connecting to a FrontBase database using the FrontBase dam for several years without a problem. FrontBase is on a server running Windows NT 2008. The network was changed earlier this year due to some internal business changes and the IP address was changed. I changed the login accordingly for all the machines on the intranet running the application and things went fine for a few months. Then one day no one could connect. The error message is “FBExec not found on Host”. I am running O$ 6.02 and FB 5. I assumed based on the documentation that it was a license issue as the previous license was based on the IP address but even with a new license I still could not make a connection. I uninstalled FrontBase saving my database files and reinstalled it to no avail. I contacted FrontBase and they said that from version 5 on it doesn’t need or even look for a license (which is why the license area is blank). Does anyone out there use FrontBase and have any idea what could have happened or what I could do to fix this problem? I have spent hours and tried everything I could do and I can not get it to connect to even a simple one table database. I tried installing FB 8 as well and still can’t connect. Any help would be appreciated.
