O$8.x: is it worth to upgrade?

I see O$8.1.5 installer available for download.
I see O$8.2 mentioned in the program of German Omnis Conference program coming up in May.
I understand O$9.x was mentioned on the road map, perhaps it may be released at the end of this year.

I am a bit confused what to ignore and what to commit to.

Could someone please advise?
