Ping on OS X – Omnis 4.3.2.1
All,
For anyone that has Kelly’s TCPTalk… Last night Kelly reminded me that TCPTalk has a TCP.Ping command.
It is a perfect replacement for TCPPing under Omnis. Seems just as fast as well. So that took care of the performance issue I was having with the Script Version.
The Script Ping would still work fine for one off Pings. But when used as I do for checking Network Connections before data operations it slowed batch operations up to ten times over TCPPing and TCP.Ping.
Thanks for the hundredth time to Kelly!

Funny on the same subject I thought that all open transport stuff was killed on OSX 10.9 and onwards so all of our SMTP commands failed from that version onwards. Just the other day though I realised all of our Web HTTP POST’s are still working ok on 10.9 and onwards which I didn’t expect. All good.
