Posing a question for the good of the Omnis community – want to move to STACK EXCHANGE?
Moving to StackOverflow will somewhat give you that “community” feel but
you need to subscribe to specific tags. As someone mentioned you cant add
those tags until you hit 1500 reputation points. Also if you forget to tag
then Omnis users wont get the notifications. Lots of things need to happen.
If you look at many modern web tools/frameworks, they use google groups or
stack overflow. (small sample list below).
Django – Google Group
AngualrJS – Google Group (given).
Rails – Stack Overflow
React – Stack Overflow
Express – Google group
The benefit of a google group is that you can still maintain the community
feel like we have now, option to only interact by email (like we do now),
but also have the benefits of everything else.
Having used both Google groups and Stack Overflow for many years, my
personal preference is google groups as I feel like I usually get more
project based responses rather then from people unrelated to a specific
platform in question.
Anyways, I created a google group few years ago (groups.google.com/
group/omnis-studio-users) but it never “took off” because why would anyone
want to be part of two lists?
To make this work, we need to move to a single platform, be it google
groups or stack overflow etc. In terms of a transition for most users here,
email based google groups is by far the easiest and quickest to transition
