Stopping Omnis from asking for a Datafile
You could also test for a specific name of a data file and take steps if
they get into some other file.
That comes with its own issues for some apps but may help this specific
situation.
You of course could add more rules that concern the path of the data.
Lots of things you can do depending on the situation.

Subject: Re: Stopping Omnis from asking for a Datafile
Same problem happens to me every now and then for various reasons and the
user ends up using a dif data than intended. This is what I came up with on
Studio 6 and up. (probably works on previous versions as well, but no way to
find out)
I made the request to open the data file on an specific path, for ex:
Open data file {pathnameofdata.df1} **then test if it could open or not
If flag false
OK message {DATA NOT AVAILABLE’}
Quit Omnis
End If
Studio still ask for a database at closing the first time the user tries to
open the program, but it will close anyway. The rest of the times it will
close without asking. Either way, it is irrelevant in this scenario if the
user chooses another datafile or not, because the program will close anyway
after he choses it, not giving them the chance to work on the wrong place.
The next time the user opens the program it will either close (without
asking like I said) or get into the right datafile if it is available at
that time.
Not the most elegant solution, but it works. At least it prevents the user
to use the incorrect data.
Hope if helps if nobody comes up with a way that it never ask in the first
place.
