Studio 10.2 RT – strange behaviour

Can you run a VM with 10.15 installed that is running 10.12, ie run a later OS in a VM on hardware that won’t run newer software versions?

Apples SDK’s move forward and Apple tend’s not to look back too far since the expect the vast majority of users of OSX to simply upgrade. Its part of the conditioning and som co-dependancies. For example, I keep getting nagged to update garage band — but then it says you need big sur to run it.

As developers, its hard to build with he older SDK’s since apple updates xcode making build targets for older (or unsupported) versions of the OS hard. It will only accelerate with the introduction of ARM chips, which will deprecate compatibility with older OS’ faster.

so, I go back to VM’s. I have built them for win 2000, xp, 8, 8.1,10, server 2016 and 2019. and OSX 10.6, mojave, catalina, and big sur. It didn’t occur to me to make one for Sierra otr High sierra at the time and I wish I had.

it is becoming a necessary as pert of a developers toolkit to make archival operating systems — just in case.

and if you do make a basic high sierra VM in parallels, I would love to have one — since I can’t make one myself any more.

anyway, sad, but I think useful approach.

When I start Studio 10.2 RT and then choose Open library
everything works as expected.

The other way to start does not work.
First starting a library to open with the same runtime
make all windows turn up dimmed and unresponsible.
Menus work though.

Starting in the same way using the dev version it all works.
Studio 10.1 didn’t have this problem.

Anyone else seen this or have a clue?
